Α΄ ΤΕΣΕΚ ΛΕΜΕΣΟΥ
Η Α΄ Τεχνική Σχολή Λεμεσού βρίσκεται σε κεντρική θέση της πόλης απέναντι από το αρχηγείο της Αστυνομίας Λεμεσού και το παλαιό Νοσοκομείο.
Μετά τη λήξη του Β΄ Παγκοσμίου πολέμου το 1944, διαπιστώθηκε έλλειψη ειδικευμένου τεχνικού προσωπικού. Το 1952, μετά από εισηγήσεις ειδικού εμπειρογνώμονα από το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, αποφασίστηκε η εισαγωγή ενός ολοκληρωμένου συστήματος Τεχνικής Εκπαίδευσης σε τρία επίπεδα ως ακολούθως: α) Προπαρασκευαστικές Τεχνικές Σχολές β) Τεχνικές Επαγγελματικές Σχολές και γ) Τεχνικά Ινστιτούτα.
Κατά την περίοδο 1956 – 59 γινόντουσαν δεκτοί κατόπιν εισαγωγικών εξετάσεων απόφοιτοι Δημοτικού. Η Σχολή αποτελείτο από:
1. Προπαρασκευαστική Τεχνική Σχολή με προγράμματα Γενικής Εκπαίδευσης με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στην εκμάθηση της Αγγλικής Γλώσσας ώστε αυτή να αποτελούσε τη γλώσσα διδασκαλίας από το τρίτο έτος φοίτησης.
2. Σχολή Γυμνασιακού Κύκλου η οποία άρχιζε μετά το τρίτο έτος με δυνατότητα συνέχισης σε Πανεπιστήμια.
3. Τεχνική Σχολή η οποία άρχιζε πάλι μετά το τρίτο έτος με ειδικό πρόγραμμα τεχνικών μαθημάτων ώστε μετά από τρία χρόνια οι απόφοιτοι να είναι ειδικευμένοι τεχνίτες. Λειτουργούσαν οι ειδικεύσεις: Μηχανουργοί Εφαρμοστές και Μηχανικοί Αυτοκινήτων.
Οι δύο πρώτες Τεχνικές Σχολές που λειτούργησαν μέσα σ’ αυτό το πλαίσιο ήταν η Τεχνική Σχολή Λευκωσίας και η Τεχνική Σχολή Λεμεσού. Η Τεχνική Σχολή Λεμεσού άρχισε επίσημα τη λειτουργία της την 15η Οκτωβρίου του 1956 υπό την αιγίδα του Γραφείου Παιδείας και ήταν Δικοινοτική. Κατά το πρώτο έτος εγγράφηκαν δεκατέσσερις Έλληνες και δεκατέσσερις Οθωμανοί μαθητές. Ο μικρός αριθμός των Ελλήνων μαθητών οφειλόταν στο μποϊκοτάρισμα των ελληνοκυπρίων αφού είχε ήδη αρχίσει ο ένοπλος αγώνας της Ε.Ο.Κ.Α.
To 1959, το Γραφείο Ελληνικής Παιδείας ανέλαβε τη Διεύθυνση της Σχολής. Η Σχολή είχε 253 Έλληνες μαθητές. Με την ανακήρυξη της Κυπριακής Ανεξαρτησίας το 1960, ο στόχος των προγραμμάτων ήταν να προετοιμάζει τεχνικούς απόφοιτους από το Τεχνικό Τμήμα (εξατάξιο) και να προετοιμάζει τεχνίτες απόφοιτους από το Επαγγελματικό Τμήμα (τετρατάξιο).
Σήμερα η Α΄ Τεχνική Σχολή Λεμεσού είναι η δεύτερη μεγαλύτερη Τεχνική Σχολή στην Κύπρο. Διοικητικά ανήκει στη Διεύθυνση Μέσης Τεχνικής και Επαγγελματικής Εκπαίδευσης του Υπουργείου Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού. Χωρίζεται σε δύο κατευθύνσεις: την Θεωρητική και την Πρακτική. Λειτουργούν τέσσερις Κλάδοι: α) Μηχανολογίας, β) Καλλιτεχνικών Σπουδών, γ) Επιπλοποιίας και δ) Υπηρεσιών.
Από την Σχολική Χρονιά 2019-20 μετονομάστηκε σε Α' Τεχνική Επαγγελματική Σχολή Εκπαίδευσης και Κατάρτησης Λεμεσού (Α' ΤΕΣΕΚ Λεμεσού).

School’s History
Α΄ ΤΕSΕΚ Limassol
A’ Technical and Vocational School Limassol is located in the centre of the city opposite the Limassol Police Headquarters and the old hospital.
After the end of the Second World War in 1944, a shortage of qualified technical personnel was found. In 1952, following the recommendations of a special expert from the United Kingdom, it was decided to introduce an integrated system of Technical Education at three levels as follows: (a) Preparatory Technical Schools (b) Technical Vocational Schools and (c) Technical Institutes.
During the period 1956 – 59 primary school graduates were admitted after entrance examinations.
The school was comprised of:
1. The Preparatory Technical School with General Education Courses with a greater emphasis on learning English to that it would be the language of instruction from the third year of study.
2. The Gymnasium School which started after the third year with the possibility of continuing to a University.
3. The Technical School which again started after the third year with a special program of technical subjects so that after three years the graduates would become qualified technicians. The specialisations offered were: Mechanical and car engineers.
The first two Technical Schools that operated within this framework were the Technical Schools in Nicosia and Limassol. The Technical School in Limassol officially began its operation on 15th October 1956 under the auspices of the Education Office which was Bicommunal. During the first year, fourteen Greeks and fourteen Ottoman students were enrolled. The small number of Greek students was attributed to the boycott of the Greeks since the Ε.Ο.Κ.Α.armed fight had already started. In 1959, the Greek Education Office took over the management of the School. The School had 253 Greek students. With the declaration of the Independence of Cyprus in 1960, the aim οf the programs was to prepare technician graduates from the technical department (six grades) and to prepare craftsmen graduates from the professional department (four grades).
Today, A’ Technical School Limassol is the second largest Technical School in Cyprus. Administratively, it is under the directorate of the department of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth. There are two directions: theoretical and practical. There are four fields of study: a) Engineering, b) Applied Arts, c) Woodwork and Furniture Making and d) Services.
Since the school year 2019-20 it has been renamed to Α' Technical and Vocational School Limassol (Α' ΤΕΣΕΚ).
